A leading higher education institution is seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer to support critical data warehousing projects and Power BI reporting initiatives. Based on project deliverables, this is a 6-month contract role with a high likelihood of extension.
The role will focus on Azure-based data solutions, ETL development, Power BI reporting, and supporting large-scale data projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Azure, SQL, ETL, and Power BI, along with a collaborative and analytical approach to solving complex data challenges.
You’ll be joining a small but highly experienced data team that values collaboration, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
> Design & Maintain Data Warehouses – Develop, optimize, and manage Azure-based data warehouse solutions.
> ETL & Data Pipelines – Implement ETL processes and manage data ingestion using Azure Data Factory.
> Power BI Development – Build and maintain interactive reports and dashboards for business intelligence insights.
> Data Modelling & Governance – Ensure data integrity, security, and performance optimization.
> Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with data engineers, BI analysts, and business users to understand reporting needs.
> Project Support – Assist with data migration, automation, and reporting enhancements for enterprise-wide projects.
What You’ll Bring:
> 3-5+ years experience as a Data Warehouse Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role.
> Strong Azure Data Services expertise – Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks.
> Proficiency in SQL, Python, and DAX for data management and analytics.
> Power BI experience – Building, optimizing, and maintaining Power BI reports & dashboards.
> ETL & Data Modelling knowledge – Strong understanding of data warehouse structures and best practices.
> Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills – Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
> Experience with higher education data systems.
> Familiarity with MS Fabric & big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark).
> Previous experience in structured, enterprise-level data environments.
This role is based in Perth, Western Australia. Full working rights are required for this engagement.
