Fullstack Developer

Summary & Overview:

This candidate is a Perth-based Full Stack Developer with 6+ years of commercial development experience, primarily working across React, Node.js/Express and MongoDB, with their recent cloud work focused on Azure. They originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer before moving into software development and eventually co-founding their own technology consultancy. Through that business, they have delivered production applications for large energy, infrastructure and education clients, including SaaS, document management, XR and data-focused solutions.

As the consultancy has grown, their role has naturally become more management-focused, and there is now a development team handling much of the build work. They want to get back into a role where they are coding regularly and building products themselves. They are open to permanent or contract opportunities and would consider anything from a startup through to a larger organisation.

Why hire:

Good chat and communicator, and clearly someone who enjoys the technical side of development. They like building things from scratch, solving problems and getting hands-on rather than sitting purely in a management position. React and Node.js are their main areas, although they have also worked with Angular, React Native, Python and both Azure and AWS. Their current Azure exposure includes App Service, Functions, Blob Storage and Static Web Apps, alongside GitHub Actions CI/CD.

There is some good production work behind the experience. They have built a multi-tenant SaaS platform using React, Node/Express and MongoDB, and more recently architected a three-service enterprise document platform using React, Azure Functions and Python FastAPI with Entra ID SSO. Their latest WA project is a live mining compliance application built as a React PWA with a Node.js backend and deployed to Azure. They have also led development teams, so can operate beyond an individual developer role when required.

Areas for development/review:

Much of their recent commercial experience has come through their own consultancy rather than working as an internal developer within an Australian technology team. Their preference now is to step away from the management side of that business and establish themselves locally in Perth in a more hands-on development position.

Their background has included startup and consulting environments where they have had fairly broad responsibilities. They are open to larger organisations, but the role would ideally still give them the opportunity to code and contribute directly rather than moving them back towards pure management.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.

Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), with Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) currently in progress.

Availability and remuneration expectations:

Available immediately and open to permanent or contract opportunities, with a slight preference towards contract work. Around $1000 charge per day for contract opportunities, although they are open to discussing market rates.

Based in Belmont and flexible on location across Perth with no particular commute restrictions. Open to hybrid, remote or full-time office arrangements.

Currently in Australia on their partner's visa with unrestricted work rights and no sponsorship requirement.
