Summary & Overview:
This candidate is a Senior Business Analyst with 14+ years across mining, insurance, government, healthcare, higher education and utilities. They are currently contracting within an insurance organisation, working on the modernisation of its core claims platform supporting compulsory third-party insurance. The existing platform is heavily customised and built on legacy COBOL, with their work focused on understanding current business rules and processes and helping define requirements for the future-state solution.
Their current contract runs until January and they have been offered a permanent position, but contracting remains their preference. They are now back on the market and would ideally like to return to the private sector. Mining is an environment they know well, but they are open across industries and see their BA skill set as fairly transferable.
Why hire:
Good chat and sound communicator. They have a good mix of business-facing BA capability and enough technical understanding to work effectively with development and integration teams. Their experience covers requirements engineering, process modelling, workshops, user stories, systems analysis, integration, product ownership and Agile delivery.
There is good variety behind the recent insurance work. They previously spent three years within a mining organisation where they led cross-functional development teams as a Product Owner, delivered SaaS implementations and worked across systems integration and process improvement. Earlier experience includes mining technology and IT/OT projects, healthcare innovation, utilities and large government transformation programs.
Areas for development/review:
They are not looking to convert into a permanent role with their current organisation and would prefer to stay in the contract market. Their preference for the next move is also private sector rather than another government environment.
Education and Certifications:
Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Management and Graduate Certificate in Sustainability & Climate Policy, both from Curtin University.
Professional Scrum Master I, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Business Analysis Practitioner, alongside Six Sigma Green Belt training.
Availability and remuneration expectations:
Currently contracted until January, with approximately two weeks' notice.
Looking for Senior Business Analyst contract opportunities at around $1,200 per day charge, plus GST. Hybrid working is preferred, with the Perth CBD an ideal location.
Industry is open, although the private sector is preferred over government.
